Good Old Fashion Cheap Fun!
These are the benefits of being in the Mountains of Western NC folks. Since we are so close to the Nantahala and Cherokee National Forests you and your family have access to a whole world of natural sites and activities. During these trying times folks are forced to take a harder look at the money we spend and still maintain a little down time to recharge. Some suggest Stay-Cations or just getting back to the ways of simpler times, like camping. Just think how much money it costs to go to a resort and then realizing that you bought into a fantasy of a vacation. Sure it is nice to be pampered, but ultimately you spend a majority of your time walking point A to Point B just to see a show or a ride, that most of the time mimics nature. (Free) -Gold Panning (Free if you have the pans-Pans cost as low as $6 each) -Mountain Biking (Free) -Scenic Waterfalls (Free) -Visit the Trout Hatchery (Free) -Visit scenic overlooks (Free) -Drive Scenic wildlife loops like Cades Cove (Free) -Fish State Stocked near by streams (License/ Permit Required) -Visit Historic Sites (Free) -Shop local Flea Markets (Free to look!) -Attend local Festivals (Free Admission) -Tube or kyak the Nantahala Gorge (Free if you have your own equipment) -Visit near by tourist towns like Helen, Cherokee, Tellico Plains and Blue Ridge -Geocache (Free) Needless to say there are plenty of activities to keep you and your family busy and on a budget. Most important we discount for large families, Family Gatherings, Events and Special occasions.
